Vice Chancellor Office
Every ship needs a skipper—someone to guide the vessel and offer direction. At the MUBAS, this is the responsibility of the Vice Chancellor. The office of the Vice Chancellor is the highest management position, responsible to the Chancellor and responsible for the following officers: the deputy vice chancellor, deans, the finance officer, the registrar, the librarian, the ICT director, and the procurement officer. He or she is responsible for appraising these officers and others at MUBAS.
Strategically, the vice chancellor is responsible for monitoring and implementing college plans, strategies, and procedures. In this vein, he or she is required to prepare college reports periodically. With respect to monitoring and evaluating, the principal must ensure that curricula are regularly reviewed and refurbished in accordance with the standards of the University. As the ultimate gatekeeper, the vice chamcellor ensures the appropriate and efficient use of both human and capital resources.
Whoever holds this office is also the face of MUBAS—so to speak. The vice chancellor is responsible for representing the college at various fora and participating as a member of various external bodies. He or she is the main partnership link between the college and various stakeholders, including the government, other colleges and universities, the private sector, development partners and the international community broadly defined. As such, the principal is also the major fundraiser for MUBAS.
