A trained Mechanical Engineer, Dickson Ndenguma joined University of Malawi – The Polytechnic in 2000. After serving as a Part- time Lecturer for two years in the Department of Technical Education, he was employed to teach Engineering Science and Technical Drawing and Design.
Ndenguma became Dean – EMS in December, 2020 after serving as Deputy Dean for 8 months. Before that he served as Head of Technical Education Department for 3 years and Deputy Head for 4 years.
Dickson Ndenguma graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at University of Malawi, The Polytechnic in 1992. In 2008, he graduated from University of Pretoria with BSc (Hons) in Mechanics then MSc Mechanics in 2011. In 2018, he graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy Degree specializing in Heat and Mass Transfer. Being in the Department of Education for so long he has attended several short trainings in Teaching and Learning and Education Management.
Before joining University of Malawi, he worked for Malawi Industrial Research and Technology Development Centre (MIRTDC) for 6 years. In the first 3 years, he served as an Appropriate Technology Dissemination Officer in Nsanje and Mangochi Districts and worked as a Technology Researcher in the next 3 years.
As a Dean of Faculty his work involves academic planning, networking, resource mobilization, research, consultancy, outreach and supervision of resources in the Faculty.
As a researcher, he has published in peer- reviewed journals and presented papers at International Conferences. Much of his work research focused on heat transfer and fluid dynamics. Currently, he is engaged in Education Technology Research and Designing.
Apart from professional work, Dickson is also a Poultry Farmer. He is married to a Civil Engineer with whom he has 2 daughters. He is a Presbyterian and enjoys early morning jogging.
