The Polytechnic, a Constituent College of the University of Malawi, Faculty of Commerce is inviting applications for the following Postgraduate Programmes which will commence in September, 2021. 

1.DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (PhD) IN COMMERCE

1. PhD in Entrepreneurship;
2. PhD in Strategic Management
3. PhD in Financial Management

Candidates for PhD programmes must have a relevant Master’s or MPhil degree from recognized institutions.  The PhD programme is for 3 years.

Fees and Expenses

US$10,000 (Paid in MK Equivalent) for the whole programme will cater for tuition, supervision and examination costs. Research expenses will vary from candidate to candidate based on the nature of research; however an indicative figure of US$4,500 for the whole programme for PhD candidates may be used for budgeting purposes.

PhD application dossiers MUST INCLUDE: 

1. A completed postgraduate application form; 
2. A certified academic transcripts of all previous university courses taken including percentage scores where necessary; 
3. Certified copies of relevant certificates ( to be certified by commissioner of oath); 
4. An abstract of master’s research or dissertation; 
5. A concept paper relating to the proposed research topic which should not be more than 5 pages long. The concept note must include the following;
   • Introduction
   • Problem statement
   • Research objective
   • Preliminary literature review
   • Methodology
   • References 
6. Sample academic writing i.e. publications, conference reports, etc which adhere to the broad conventions of academic publishing (i.e. contain an up-to-date review of relevant literature, description of relevant research methods and an evaluation of results, etc.) and which identify the applicant as a significant contributor (maximum of 30 pages); 
7. 1 letter from an academic referee at postgraduate level and one letter from a professional referee and; 
8. A detailed updated Curriculum Vitae.
9. A non-refundable application fee of K10,000.00

 Please note that PhD and candidates may apply for placement at any time of the academic year.

2.EXECUTIVE MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION 

Target Audience

The program is designed to suit middle or senior level managers from commercial, industrial, non – profit making or public sector organizations, especially those who would like to prepare themselves for a more challenging senior position.

 Blantyre: Florence House, The Polytechnic

 Lilongwe: Kamuzu College of Nursing

Entry Requirements: 

Any recognized University degree with a minimum average of 55% - 59%  or its equivalent plus a minimum of three (3) years practical experience after obtaining their first degree.

Programme Fees:

Successful applicants will be required to pay tuition and thesis fees of Malawi Kwacha equivalent of US$7,650.00. The programme is offered on non-residential basis for 2 years.

Mode of delivery:

Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays; from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
