The Centre for Water,Sanitation,Hygiene and Appropriate Technology Development (WASHTED) in partnership with the Malawi Government and the Water Environmental Sanitation Network ( An umbrella body for all WASH NGOs in Malawi) will be hosting a one day knowledge exchange symposium for sanitation and hygiene promotion in Malawi.

Programme

The symposium will aim to share current practices and experiences from a range of academics and practitioners who are working on the four-step journey which poo requires to take:

  • Containment
  • Transport
  • Treatment
  • Disposal/Reuse

Presentations and exhibitions will be provided by academics and expert practitioners, and will culminate in a radio panel discussion on the successes and challenges of sanitation as a business in Malawi. A programme will be made available upon registration

Who should attend

Researchers, practitioners and private sector interested in looking at the potential technical solutions to the challenges faced in the containment, transport, treatment and disposal of human waste.

The symposium will be hosted by the University of Malawi - Polytechnic
